Re-Learning Until It's Over, Recently Watched, Non Alcoholic Recs, and Homemade Popcorn

I've been focusing on some big work projects and goals (for what feels like months now but let's be honest it's probably weeks or maybe it's years). When I'm focused like this, a lot of other things fall off my radar. I was just saying last month that going on long walks had officially become a habit for me and then freezing/rainy temps on Halloween snuck up on me and threw me off of my self-proclaimed habit.

I've stayed consistent with cooking at home and not spending money just to justify the work load. I put in about 6 hours a week into learning Spanish. But I have not been consistent in reading, drawing, or journaling.

It seems like every month I re-learn the lesson that I (and we as a collective species) cannot do it all. It's physically and mentally and emotionally impossible.

It seems like every month I re-learn the lesson that saying yes or no means saying yes or no to something else.

Life means re-learning. Or learning better. Or learning deeper. Over and over until it's over.

Of The Week:

Recent Repurchase: I don’t wear foundation anymore but have been using this concealer more liberally. It’s creamy and I use the color Kava.

I Want This: I am so into transforming and maximizing small living spaces and really loved this approach from my clients Jordan and Barry!

Movie Recs: I watched the movies RRR and Theater Camp over the weekend and loved them both.

Kindle Meets Phone: My eyes would love this.

Take Five and Eat Lunch

  1. I finally caught up on email replies from you all and got two non-alcoholic drink recs: this and this.
  2. These beans are really good.
  3. This has been my go-to homemade snack recently.
  4. If you eat lamb, this is quick and delicious.
  5. This is how you do jalapeno cornbread!

Talk to you next Sunday,

Allie(pal)

It's great to be in your inboxes after three weeks off. I really enjoyed re-thinking this newsletter and all that it can be. If you've been getting my emails for awhile, I don't think you'll feel like it's that different. And if you're new(er), hey! I wanted something new and fresh to re-engage myself, honestly. I think this evolved format will let me share more of me. And expand more on the things that I link out to! I hope it feels like a friend date where we only have an hour but we try to...

This week marks one year since Desh died. I am typically in the Christmas spirit but this year it took a lot of eye rolling and irritability to even get the tree up. He died right near that tree. But it’s the tree that I have and it gives off great light (it’s pink). I don’t want to take a break or time off for the holidays. I want to keep working and live my regular life. But this Thursday, on the actual anniversary, I’ll break the routine and stroll the path of grief. Before I lost anyone...

I've had a few of you ask me to share how I write this email. I've been writing this email every Sunday since December 2019. This month marks four years! My method is very simple. I write the email in a Google doc first so that I can search for anything. The Google doc is 304 pages long at this point. Throughout the week I save things on Instagram or in Pocket. On Saturday or Sunday, I also read though newsletters that I subscribe to and will include a link from there if it's worth sharing....
